KUALA LUMPUR: Oscar-winner and Jai Ho composer for Slumdog Millionaire, A.R. Rahman, mesmerised 20,000 fans with his stellar performance at his live concert at Stadium Merdeka here Saturday night.
The music mogul performed his numerous hit compositions from the 90s till his latest number dedicated for legendary Brazilian footballer, Pele: Birth of a Legend.
Although the concert was delayed for almost two hours due to a downpour, Rahman managed to yet again win the hearts of his fans with their favourite numbers, including Mustafa Mustafa, Usilampatti and songs from Alaipayuthey.
Malaysia Major Events general manager Tony Nagamaiah said this was the second time the A.R. Rahman Live Concert was held with the government's support.
"The last time we had him here was in 2014 and it was also a stellar performance enjoyed by 15,000 international and local audience members.
"It is our hope to continue this relationship with the great musical genius and we welcome him to Malaysia anytime.
"In fact, he could consider Malaysia his second home and we feel that there is opportunity for him to groom our local talent," said Tony in a statement.
The concert was organised by Black Horse Movie (M) Sdn Bhd and supported by Malaysia Major Events, a division of Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), which is an agency under the Ministry of Tourism and Culture. - Bernama
