KUCHING: Politicians from both sides of the political divide have offered their prayers for the missing helicopter carrying six individuals including Deputy Minister Datuk Noriah Kasnon.
“Praying for the safety of those onboard missing helicopter in Sarawak. Search ongoing,” tweeted Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.
Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali also expressed his concern over the incident.
“A helicopter carrying several leaders is missing in Sarawak. Let’s pray that all onboard are safe and sound,” the PKR deputy president tweeted.
PKR’s Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah said he also hoped for the best.
“Let us all pray that those onboard the helicopter are safe,” he tweeted.
Noriah, who is Deputy Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister, was among six individuals on board the helicopter that lost contact at around 5pm Thursday on their way from Betong to Kuching.
Others were her husband Asmuni Abdullah, the ministry's secretary-general Datuk Dr Sundaran Annamalai, Kuala Kangsar MP and Malaysian Palm Oil Board chairman Datuk Wan Mohammad Khairil Anuar Wan Ahmad and personal bodyguard Ahmad Sobri Harun as well as the pilot of the flight RP-C 6828 Captain Rudolf Rex Ragas.
The helicopter is believed to have been travelling from Betong, roughly 250km away from the capital city.Related stories:
