NRD will not appeal in conversion case

KUCHING: The National Registration Department will withdraw its appeal against a High Court decision recognising a Sarawakian Muslim convert’s right to be legally known as a Christian, says Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem.

Adenan said he had spoken to Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak about the department’s appeal in the case of Roneey Rebit, a Bidayuh who was converted to Islam as a child.
