PETALING JAYA: Police shot a man who stormed into a police station with a machete in an attempt to attack a man lodging a report at the Serendah police station here.

In the 11.40pm on Sunday, the machete-wielding man took a bullet to the knee after he ignored warnings by the policeman on guard duty not to enter the police station.

He was trying to attack a man who was lodging a police report on a savage attack by 15 to 20 men, believed to be gangsters, on the man and five friends an hour earlier.

The six victims were in a parking lot near a restaurant at Desa Kiambang, Serendah, Hulu Selangor when the group of assailants arrived with machetes, helmets and hockey sticks.

Four of the victims managed to flee while remaining two were slashed and beaten.

Hulu Selangor OCPD Supt R. Supramaniam said the two victims and the overzealous gangster were sent to Hospital Selayang for treatment.

"We have also arrested 29 men, aged 24 to 33, in connection with this case," he said when contacted Saturday.

He added that police also seized the machete and car of the injured gangster to facilitate investigations.
