Weak quake in Lahad Datu

KUALA LUMPUR: A weak earthquake with a magnitude of 3.5 on the Richter Scale hit Lahad Datu at 8.43am Friday.

Earlier, another quake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale occurred at 5.47am about 3,522 km southeast of Semporna, Sabah.

The quake was centred in the Bismarck Sea, southwest of Kavieng, Papua New Guinea.

No tsunami alert was issued.
