From early doubter to ardent supporter

Abdul Latiff had first wanted another man for the Pekan seat but changed his mind about Najib after seeing the young MP in action

THE year was 1976 and the second Prime Minister ,Tun Abdul Razak Hussein, had died as a result of leukaemia, leaving the Pekan parliamentary seat vacant.

One of his sons, named Najib, was among the three candidates touted to replace him.
