Gas leak shuts highway between Tapah and Gopeng

TAPAH: A section, between Tapah and Gopeng at KM311, of the North South Expressway has been closed both ways after a tank with LPG sprang a leak at about noon Wednesday.

According to the driver of the trailer which was transporting the tank, two safety valves on the tank were found to leak the gas.

Until the situation is rectified, drivers are required to exit the highway at Gopeng or Tapah to continue on their journey.

Fire and Rescue Department staff and police have closed both carriageways of the highway while they allow the LPG tank to vent. The safety valves cannot be repaired at the scene.
