Selangor backbenchers hope Pakatan crisis can be resolved after Raya

KLANG: The political turmoil plaguing the Pakatan Rakyat is expected to be resolved after the Hari Raya celebration in July, said Selangor Backbenchers Club chairman Ng Suee Lim.

“Things will be clear after the Hari Raya celebration later. It is likely that there will be a brand new coalition working together.

“(We) won’t talk about Pakatan Rakyat anymore (then) as it will be considered in the past tense,” said the DAP rep during a site visit to Klang's third bridge near Lorong Selamat here on Wednesday.

He said the coalition was now at a stage of realigning and readjusting, with both DAP and PKR finding new ways for cooperation in the future.

“We do not deny there are some problems that need to be tackled now but I wish to assure that the relationship of all state assembly representatives in Selangor is still intact and good.

“The current happenings are a challenge to the wisdom of both DAP and PKR to find new ways of cooperation. We will try to figure out ways so that the state government led by Mentri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali will continue to function,” he added.

Asked if the three parties would still remain in the state administration, Ng said it was possible as long as they could

still agree on certain common issues and be respectful to each other.

Lim added that the Backbenchers Club would continue to play its mediating role to maintain the good relationship.

Asked if he was worried that the crisis might not be solved amicably, Ng said it would be a lie if he said he was not. He however added that things tended to change rapidly in politics.

“We must be prepared for the worst and any ad-hoc matters in between. I am confident we will be fine as long as we keep calm and solve the issues one by one,” he added.
