Suit against Anwar dropped due to high legal fees, says Saiful

KUALA LUMPUR: Former political aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan (pic) says he withdrew his RM50mil defamation suit against Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as he could not bear the high legal fees.

Mohd Saiful said although he has a concrete case, the legal process sometimes takes too long.

“I am not able to bear the legal cost. I have to mortgage my property and have to come up and down to court.

“It has been seven years for me to go through legal process to prove the authenticity of the police report that I made in 2008,” he said in a statement sent to the press by his counsel Zamri Idrus on Monday.

Mohd Saiful also confirmed that he would not pursue the suit against former PKR leader which he had filed in June last year.

He added that his decision did not mean that he was withdrawing all contents in a police report made in 2008, and that he stood by the report of him being sodomised by Anwar.

Mohd Saiful, 30, withdraw his RM50mil suit against Anwar earlier on Monday.
