GEORGE TOWN: Penang has declared May 7 as a state public holiday in conjunction with the Permatang Pauh by-election.

Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng (pic) said the initiative was to allow voters, especially those living out of town and have busy work schedules, to cast their votes.

“After much discussion with state excos, May 7 has been gazetted as a state level public holiday,” said Lim during a press conference at the Penang State Museum on Monday.
