Jamaluddin’s aide shocked to learn tragic news

KUALA LUMPUR: The special officer to Tan Sri Dr Jamaluddin Jarjis has been waiting for his boss’ arrival when news broke of the crash.

Mazlan Yusof said he was shocked to learn of the news at around 6pm.

“I had just arrived home in Melawati when I received the news. I knew that earlier they had gone to the Prime Minister’s daughter’s wedding reception in Pekan.

“We were all waiting for him and his entourage to arrive later in the evening and then the news broke.

“My body was shaking, I can’t believe what just happened,” he said, struggling to hold back tears.

Mazlan, who had served Jamaluddin since 2008, described him as a brilliant mentor.

“He always talked about the importance of having international values.

“He believed in helping all races. It’s such a loss,” said Mazlan, who was among those standing by at the Hospital Kajang when it was learnt that the bodies would be brought there.

The bodies were later taken to Hospital Kuala Lumpur.
