Najib pays last respects to Lee Kuan Yew


SINGAPORE: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak paid his final respects to Singapore's first prime minister Lee Kuan Yew at Parliament House here on Thursday.

Najib arrived at around 12pm accompanied by his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, Foreign Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman and Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.

Najib also took the opportunity to speak to Lee's son and current Singapore prime minister Lee Hsien Loong and his wife Ho Ching to personally convey Malaysia's condolences.

Natural Resources and Environment Minister Datuk Seri G. Palanivel and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Mah Siew Keong also paid their last respects to the island nation's founding father, whose body is lying in state at the Parliament House.

The public has formed long lines waiting to bid a final farewell to the late leader.

Lee passed away at the Singapore General Hospital on Monday at 3.18am. He was 91 years old.
