Protesters shave heads, demand Anwar be allowed to attend Parliament

KUALA LUMPUR: About 50 protesters, including Opposition MPs gathered outside Parliament Tuesday to protest against Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s exclusion from parliament.

Protesters shaved their heads in solidarity with Anwar and called for the Opposition leader to be allowed to attend the parliamentary session which started Monday.

Anwar is currently serving a five-year sentence in Sungai Buloh prison for sodomising former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan. His petition to attend parliament has been rejected by the Prisons Department.

Kota Kinabalu MP Jimmy Wong, Pasir Putih MP Datuk Dr Nik Mazian Nik Mohamad, and Macang Bubuk assemblyman Lee Kai Lun were among the representatives who shaved their heads.
