Finance Ministry: BR1M payment brought forward two weeks to aid flood victims

PETALING JAYA: The Finance Ministry has brought forward BR1M payment by two weeks to aid victims of the floods affecting certain states in the country.

Recipients can now claim their BR1M payouts from Jan 15, instead of at the end of the month, said Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah on Monday.

He added that payments would be made in stages, with priority given to those in affected states.

New applications and the updating of current BR1M applications have also been extended to Jan 31 at the official BR1M portal or by visiting any Inland Revenue Board (LDHN) branch.

In the event of a death of a BR1M recipient between Jan 1 to Dec 31, the next-of-kin may claim the funds via Takaful i-BR1M until March 31.

They can do so by downloading the form at www.malaysiantakaful.com.my or by contacting the i-BR1M hotline at 03-27162716 or via email at i-BR1M@takaful-ikhlas.com.my.

Those with further inquiries can contact 1800-88-2716 or 03-8882 4565/4566 or via email at br1m@treasury.gov.my.
