KUALA LUMPUR: National diver Pandelela Rinong (pic) was involved in an accident after losing control of her car, which fell into a drain along Jalan Mahameru early Monday morning.
However, she managed to escape without injury, police confirmed.
Kuala Lumpur Staff Officer for Traffic Investigation and Regulation Deputy Supt Markandan Subramaniam said the Olympic bronze medallist was travelling alone towards Bukit Jalil from the city centre when she was forced to avoid a car that switched into her lane.
Pandelela lost control of her white Chevrolet Sonic which slammed into the metal road divider along the road.
“The impact caused her to swerve left and part of the car fell into a drain by the side of the road. She did not sustain any injuries,” DSP Markandan said, adding that the car hit a road signboard before landing in the drain.
