Terengganu flood victims increase to 2,312 as rain continues

KUALA TERENGGANU: The number of flood victims in Terengganu has increased to 2,312 as heavy rain continues to barrage the east coast state.

According to the latest figures as of 8.30am Tuesday, the Terengganu National Security Council (MKN) in a statement said 2312 people from 589 families have been evacuated and placed at 18 relief centres across the state.

The Kuala Terengganu district has the highest number of victims (1575) followed by Marang (162).

All roads however remain open and still passable although some there are reports of flash floods in various areas.

One river, the Sungai Nerus at Kampung Langkap has currently exceeded danger levels.
