Man who allegedly raped, impregnated 12-year-old niece arrested

SABAK BERNAM: A 49-year-old man was arrested at his house in Hutan Melintang, Perak for allegedly raping and impregnating his 12-year-old niece.

The girl was supposedly raped by her uncle several times since December last year when he visited the family home in Sungai Besar here.

District OCDP Asst Comm Noor Mushar Mohd said the child's parents were not at home when she was sexually assaulted by the suspect.

"We detained the suspect on Monday night and he confessed to raping the child following the arrest.

"The last time he raped her was in July," he added.

ACP Noor Mushar said the man had told the girl several times that he would marry her.

"The girl told her parents of her uncle's plan to wed her, but they weren't aware of what was going on until they noticed her expanding waistline," he added.

The girl was already nine months pregnant when a police report was lodged against her uncle.

ACP Noor Mushar said the man would be remanded for six days to facilitate investigations.

The case has been classified as rape under Section 376 of the Penal Code.
