Khalid's PKR ouster shows party's inconsistency

KUALA LUMPUR: The ouster of Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim has exposed the many inconsistencies of PKR, especially that of its advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, said Nathaniel Tan.

Tan, who used to work in Khalid's office, pointed out that when the Kajang move was initiated in January this year, Anwar said that there was a need to change the Mentri Besar because there were moves by the ultras in Umno to cause racial trouble in the state.

"Anwar does not use that excuse anymore. If he was consistently principled he would talk about that ," he said at a forum entitled Krisis Selangor: Khalid Ibrahim Belot Pakatan? (Selangor Crisis: Khalid a traitor to Pakatan?) on Saturday night.

"Instead, PKR is using the water restructuring deal, the Kinrara-Damansara expressway, the Bible issue and alleged corruption on Khalid's part in justifying his ouster," he said.

Nathaniel also said when Pakatan Rakyat's support in the last election increased, PKR credited themselves.

Pakatan won an additional eight seats in the 2013 general elections.

"Then they say that all the problems in the state are Khalid' s fault, " he said.

Khalid was expelled from PKR on Saturday for not relinquishing his Mentri Besar post.

He acknowledged the party’s decision even though he thought it " flawed and illegal".

Many predict Pakatan Rakyat will break up over this issue as PAS has so far backed Khalid, saying that he has not done anything wrong.
