Raja Nazrin Shah proclaimed new Perak Sultan


PETALING JAYA: Raja Nazrin Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah was proclaimed the 35th Sultan of Perak at 3.15pm on Thursday.

He succeeds his father, the late Sultan Azlan Shah, who passed away at 1.30pm on Wednesday at the age of 86 at the National Heart Institute in Kuala Lumpur.

His Royal Highness Raja Nazrin Shah was the Crown Prince of the state of Perak and was appointed as Regent of Perak from 1989 to 1994 when his father His Royal Highness Sultan Azlan Shah became the ninth King of Malaysia.

He holds a B.A. (Hons) degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University, a master's in Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University and a Ph.D in Political Economy and Government from Harvard University.
