KUALA KANGSAR: Chenderiang assemblyman and Perak MCA chief Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon (pic) was sworn in as the 10th state executive councillor before Regent of Perak Raja Dr Nazrin Shah.

The rest of the nine-exco members renewed their oath of office at a ceremony held at Istana Iskandariah on Monday.

The nine are Datuk Saarani Mohamad, Datuk Mohammad Zahir Abdul Khalid, Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharuddin, Datuk Rusnah Kassim, Datuk Samsudin Abu Hassan, Datuk Shahrul Zaman Yahya,Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohd Radzi,Datuk Mohd Nizar Zakaria and Datuk Dr Muhammad Amin Zakaria.

Dr Mah, a cardiologist by profession had been a two-term assemblyman, and was appointed exco member in 2009.

However after the general elections last year, he was not part of the new exco line-up with MCA's decision not to take up any government positions following the less satisfactory results of the elections.

Following an extraordinary general meeting in February it was decided that party members could take up government positions.
