Cosplay killing: No sign girl was raped, say police

PETALING JAYA: Police said Ng Yuk Tim’s body was clad in a t-shirt and panties without any sign of rape when it was found in a green suitcase.

“She was discovered in a fetal position,” Selangor deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Abdul Rahim Jaafar said yesterday.

DCP Abdul Rahim said a post-mortem conducted at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) showed that Ng died of severe head injuries due to three heavy blows to the head.

“There were also no signs that her joints were broken in order to fit her into the suitcase.

“We have recorded the statements of several individuals, including the victim’s parents as well as the 23-year-old suspect.

“The suspect claimed that the murder was not premeditated. However, we will continue with our investigation,” he said.

It is believed the suspect placed Ng’s body into the suitcase after killing her. He then dumped the body by the side of the road along Jalan Kebun Nenas.

DCP Abdul Rahim added that the suspect had been remanded until Oct 29.

“We also seized several items from the suspect’s home, including a dumbbell,” he said.

It was reported that Yuk Tim left her home at 11am on Monday and went to the suspect’s home in Kampung Cempaka to work on cosplay costumes for an upcoming event.

He confessed that he tried to rape the girl but became angry and struck her with a dumbbell when she bit and scratched him.

Former Shelter Home executive director James Nayagam, meanwhile, advised teenagers to always inform their family or friends of their whereabouts.
