KLUANG: More security measures, including installing CCTVs, would carried out at national service camps following the recent death of a trainee at the Rompin camp.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said the government viewed the incident seriously and would carry out a full probe.

Muhammad Suhaimi Norhamidi, 18, was found inconscious on the floor of the bathroom of the Pinggiran Pelangi camp on Sunday.

He died of internal bleeding in the head possibly caused by it being banged repeatedly against a cupboard. Three trainees have been remanded to assist in the investigation.

Hishammuddin said the National Service Department would increase security measures to ensure that such incidents do not happen again.

"The death of Muhammad Suhaimi Norhamidi will not go in vain. We will increase security including installing CCTV cameras to avoid such incidents in future," he said.
