MOTO3 GP racer Zulfahmi Khairuddin has been presented with the Kesatria Terbilang Pemuda Umno Youth award.
Zulfahmi, who obtained podium finishes at the Sepang and Valencia races, was presented the award at the opening of the Umno Youth meeting.
He said the award was an inspiration to win more podium finishes next season.
“I am really touched by the recognition,” said Zulfahmi, 21.
“I scored two podium finishes this season. Hopefully, it will be more than two in the next season,” he said after getting the award from Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin.
Zulfahmi, who was accompanied by his father Khairuddin Waji, 47, and mother Zarinah Parijan, 41, said he would train harder to get better results next year.
“It has been a fantastic year. It is certainly a drive to race better next season,” he said, adding that he felt blessed to be able to represent the country at an international level.
Khairy announced that the wing was planning to assist motorcyclists obtain licences at cheaper rates under the Bantuan Lesen 1Malaysia (BL1M) scheme.
“Under the scheme, motorcyclist can get their licences at RM191 compared to the normal price of more than RM300,” he said.
He said the wing would seek to wave the fee for the needy.
