New deputy Youth chief Dr Mah wins MCA hearts

KUALA LUMPUR: Perak Youth chief Dr Mah Hang Soon won the new deputy MCA Youth chairman with a big majority.

Dr Mah, who polled 1,152 votes against his opponent Datuk Song Kee Chai, who is Kapar MCA division chairman, with the majority of 758 votes.

Song, who decided to contest at the last minute, only managed to pull in 394 votes.

Outgoing deputy Youth chief Datuk Ling Hee Leong, who lost to Dr Mah for the Perak Youth chief post, did not defend his post.

Cardiologist Dr Mah is the sole MCA assemblyman in Perak.

Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong won the Youth No 1 post uncontested, succeeding Datuk Liow Tiong Lai, who is contesting one of the four party vice-president posts in the parent body.

Of 1,773 delegates, 1,578 attended the convention at Wisma MCA here on Friday.

The four Youth vice-chairman posts were won by Yong Chen Leong, Yoo Wei How, Dr Chin Tung Leong and Yit Lee Kok.

The wing’s secretary-general is Datuk Chai Kim Sen, who polled 1,187 votes, beating Tei Tiang Boo who only managed 353 votes.

The deputy Youth secretary-general’s post was won by Loh Chew June in a three-cornered fight.

Former party president Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik’s youngest son Ling Hee Keat, who is Segambut division chairman, won one of the 20 central committee posts.
