JOHOR BARU: The body of kidnap and murder victim Lai Ying Xin has been released to her family a week after she was brutally killed after police confirmed her DNA matched that of the body.
Chia Siew Phen, 45, said that her 16-year-old daughter’s body would be placed at the Hainan Association for prayers before she would be cremated at Ban Foo Crematorium in Kulai on Wednesday.
”We want her soul to rest in peace as we love her very much.
”Her close friends even gave her a lovely dress and a pair of shoes for the funeral,” she said, adding that she missed her daughter a lot.
Among others who were at the mortuary were the victim’s family members including her father and two sisters.
Chia added that she hoped those responsible for her daughter’s death would be be brought to justice.
Meanwhile Johor police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff confirmed that the DNA of the body matched that of Ying Xin's.
”We will forward the report to the Deputy Public Prosecutor and await his advice.
”We hope to solve the case as soon as possible,” he said.
Ying Xin’s body was discovered in Kulai last Monday after she was kidnapped and brutally murdered Sept 12 before her body was set on fire.
Four suspects have been remanded until Sunday for further investigations.
