JOHOR BARU: The 36-year-old man arrested in connection with the Johor MIC deputy chief’s

murder case was released on police bail but immediately rearrested under the Emergency Ordinance.

The man, the son of a senior state MIC leader, had been detained on Thursday in connection with the murder of Datuk S. Krishnasamy.

Acting Johor CID chief Asst Comm Che Yusoff Che Ngah said the suspect was rearrested in the interest of maintaining public order.

“We had strong reasons to arrest the suspect under the Emergency Ordinance,” he said.

The rearrest was done under Section 3(1) of the Ordinance.

It is learnt that a team from Bukit Aman has taken over investigations of the case. The team is looking at all leads, including the possibility that there was internal rivalry in the party. ACP Che Yusoff urged anyone with information to contact the police hotline at 07-2212999.
