Dr M heads awards list


Kamal: Is among 20 recipients of thePMW award.

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad heads the list of 255 recipients of awards, decorations and medals in the inaugural 2008 Federal Territory award ceremony held in conjunction with the Federal Territory Day today.  

Dr Mahathir will receive the Seri Utama Mahkota Wilayah (SUMW) which carries the title Datuk Seri Utama from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin at the Istana Negara here. 

The other SUMW award recipient is Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, who was also a former Federal Territories Minister. 

Segambut Umno division chief Senator Datuk Kamarudin Ambok

Former Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Samsudin Osman, now the Putrajaya Corporation President, is among six recipients of the Seri Mahkota Wilayah (SMW) which carries the title Datuk Seri. 

Five other SMW recipients are Malaysian Sports Commissioner Tan Sri Elyas Omar who is former Kuala Lumpur Mayor, former Federal Territories Ministry Secretary-General Tan Sri Zainol Mahmood who is now Syarikat Urus Harta Cemerlang chairman, Titiwangsa Umno Division Chief Datuk Seri Dr Suleiman Mohamed, who is former Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Bukit Aman Special Branch Director Datuk Seri Ramli Sha’ari and Royal Malaysia Air Force Deputy Commander Lt-Gen Datuk Seri Bashir Abu Bakar. 

Meanwhile, Federal Territories Ministry Parliamentary Secretary Datuk Yew Teong Look is among 20 recipients of the Panglima Mahkota Wilayah (PMW) award which carries the title Datuk.

Others are Federal Territory Umno Deputy Chief Senator Datuk Kamarudin Ambok, Federal Territories Ministry’s Deputy Secretary-General (Management) Datuk Fauziah Bachik, Attorney-General’s Chambers Head of Advisory Division Datuk Hanipah Farikullah, the Prime Minister’s Department Communications Unit Chief Datuk Kamal Khalid, National Council of Senior Citizens Organisations Malaysia President Datuk Lum Kin Tuck @ Lum Kum Tuck; 

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) Deputy Director-General (Service) Datuk Mhd Amin Nordin Abd Aziz, Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Red Crescent Chairman Datuk Noordin Ab Razak who is former DBKL Director-General, Women, Family and Community Development Ministry Deputy Secretary-General Datuk Nor Hayati Sulaiman, Malaysia Bawean Association President Datuk Dr Othman Mahwan, Terendak Camp Armed Forces Hospital Commanding Officer Brig-Gen Datuk Dr Chia Lip Meng; 

Bukit Aman Special Branch’s Political Unit Principal Assistant Director Datuk Akhil Bulat, National Council for Women’s Organisations (NCWO) member Datuk Rasammah Naomi Bhupalan Rajendram, Putrajaya Corporation’s Landscape and Park Director Datuk Shahoran Johan Ariffin, Labuan Corporation Advisory Council Chairman Datuk Yunus Kurus, M/S Ataria Otomobil Sdn Bhd Director Datuk Richard Cham Hak Lim; 

Dr Chia Lip Meng

Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIs) Fellow Datuk Yaacob Wan Ibrahim, Public Service Commission member Datuk Selveraj Arokiam, Selangor Medical Centre Senior Specialist Consultant Datuk Dr Zulkifli Ismail and Political Secretary to the Prime Minister Datuk Dr Vincent Lim Kian Tick. 

Meanwhile, a total of 33 receive the Johan Mahkota Wilayah (JMW), 61 Kesatria Mahkota Wilayah (KMW), 77 Ahli Mahkota Wilayah (AMW) and 57 Pingat Pangkuan Mahkota Wilayah (PPW). – Bernama
