PETALING JAYA: Heart transplant patient Tee Hui Yi was able to sit, eat some porridge and pudding after she was taken off the ventilator at 11.35am on Sunday.

“Hui Yi is also doing some light exercise. Her condition is getting better and we are happy with her progress,” said National Heart Institute (IJN) mechanical heart programme director Dr Mohd Ezani Mohd Taib.

There has been a string of hopeful news since Hui Yi, 14, underwent the second heart transplant on Oct 5, after her body rejected the first heart transplant just the previous day.

A recent biopsy also showed her body had not rejected her new heart.
