Study on bus, taxi fares

PUTRAJAYA: Express bus and taxi operators may have their fares revised after the Entrepreneurial and Cooperative Development Ministry put in a proposal for a study on the matter.

Its minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the study – to be carried out by the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (CVLB) – would, among others, see the further tightening of regulations in the awarding of express bus and taxi permits to operators, the profiling of drivers and the possible implementation of a global positioning system (GPS) for buses and electronic ticketing to overcome touting.
