DID under fire over floods

JOHOR BARU: The Department ofIrrigation and Drainage (DID) andthe Public Works Department(PWD) came under fire at the stateassembly for not taking pre-emptivemeasures to prevent floods.Datuk Ariss Samsudin (BN-Semerah) said the lack of maintenance works by the DID and PWD were among the factors that contributed to the floods which hit the state recently. 

“The irrigation channels on the road shoulders are blocked, thus not performing to full capacity. The installation of small culverts cause the water to flow too slowly from the plantations to the water-gate.
