Najib kicks off Felda United

KUALA LUMPUR: Serang, bang, serang. (Attack, brother, attack). That’s the rallying call for Felda United.

Now that they have a football team, Felda is looking to form squads for sepak takraw, silat and athletics at national level.

“Felda will participate in the Sukma Games 2008,” said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

VIP striker: Najib about to take a shot on goal to mark the launch of the Felda Unitedteam in Kuala Lumpur.

“The football team (Felda United) will serve as the pioneer sport for Felda,” he told reporters after launching Felda United and its fan club.

“Felda would not enter all the events (in Sukma) but where it is able to it will.”

Felda United has 26 players and eight officials, including coaches and physiotherapists. The team is expected to be an avenue for new football talents to emerge.

Najib said the team would play in the FAM League Cup and its first match is likely to be against Baverly KK in Penampang on Feb 14.
