BRIDGING THE DIVIDE: (Feb 10) The world needs more people who are able to bridge the divide between the West and Muslim civilisations to bring to an end the animosity and antagonism of the past and present, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. Describing the people as bridge-builders, the Prime Minister said they must be multiplied “to destroy the walls erected by those who are hell-bent” on keeping the two civilisations apart.

TOP BRASS CHANGE: (Feb 5) A massive change in the leadership of the police force is set to take place as soon as its top brass – with the exception of Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Musa Hassan – is retiring this year. However, there is a possibility that the Government may renew or offer contracts to several of the top brass. Realising the need to fill the vacuum left by top cops when they retire, the police force has in the past few years been identifying and promoting several young officers.
