Slaughter mode decision soon

PUTRAJAYA: The legality of thoracic sticking – a procedure to stab a slaughtered cow near the heart to make it die faster – will be discussed when the National Fatwa Council meets later this year. 

Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) director-general Datuk Mustafa Abdul Rahman said a decision on this had to be made so that the issue of importing halal meat from Australia – where the procedure is practised – could be resolved.
