KUALA LUMPUR: The young man has three wives. He is also the leader of gang of teens who steal motorbikes and break into parked vehicles.
The 21-year-old youth reaped a comfortable fortune from the ill-gotten gains but his crooked career came to an end when police nabbed him at his home in Setapak here on Thursday.
At about 2.30am, just several hours before his arrest, the police acted on a tip-off detained two 18-year-old boys in separate raids at Bandar Baru Sentul.
Their arrests led police on Friday to a store, about 200 metres from the gang leader's house, where they recovered an array of items believed to have been stolen.
Sentul district deputy OCPD, Supt Mohd Yusof Shuib, said police believed they have busted a gang responsible for five cases of motorcycle thefts and 30 cases of vehicle break-ins.
An assortment of items worth more than RM50,000 were recovered.
“We believe we have smashed the gang responsible for a spate of vehicle break-ins and motorcycle thefts since last September in the Sentul and Dang Wangi districts,” said Supt Mohd Yusof.
He also appealed to victims to contact them at 03-4042 2222 to identify their belongings.
The police also learnt that the young gang leader had, only a month ago, taken a third wife.
