KOTA KINABALU: Almost all the 30,000 Rela members in Sabah are being mobilised for the crackdown against illegal immigrants that begins on Tuesday.
Sabah Rela director Asst Comm Abdul Mutalib Hashim said only 22 Rela officers in the state were empowered to arrest illegals following amendments to the (Essential Powers) Emergency 1964 Essential Regulations (Rela) (Amendments) Act 2005.
