KUALA LUMPUR: Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahmans (Utar) new campus at Bandar Sungai Long expects to have over 4,000 students for its January 2005 intake.
Council chairman Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik said more than half the number comprised first and second year students.
Dr Ling, who attended the campus open day yesterday, said the opening of the new campus would boost the economic development of Bandar Sungai Long.
With this new campus, rental and the value of houses will rise and shopkeepers will be able to enjoy better business, he said, adding that it showed how a university could help society to develop.
Utar external relations director Low Bee Eng said they were talking to the management of Bandar Sungai Long Country Club, located opposite the campus, to see if the students could use the clubs facilities.
