Swami Parthasarathy

KUALA LUMPUR: The ripe age of 78 may sound old for some but Indian philosopher Swami Parthasarathy will lead his Vedanta Academy cricket team against the Malaysian team for two days from today.

And after the batting and bowling sessions, he will give lectures on the Bhagavad Gita (The Hindu scripture) in the evening. The talk will also be on for another two days.

His annual public lecture series on the Bhagavad Gita is popular among Malaysians as his focus is on how man should shed his ego and be more tolerant to avoid misunderstandings and conflicts.

The lectures will be held from 8pm to 9.30pm at the Shree Lakshmi Narayan Temple Hall, off Jalan Ipoh.

“On one side we have the Western world, which though dynamic, active and successful in the materialistic sense, suffers from lack of inner happiness and peace of mind.

“On the other hand, we have the Eastern countries, which are relatively much poorer materially but have still attained greater peace of mind,” said Swami Parthasarathy yesterday.
