PETALING JAYA: Malaysian Batik – Crafted For the World, a movement formed to promote the use of batik, is committing itself to a three-year programme to give the craft international recognition.

The three phases, which would begin with the Batik Extravaganza on Wednesday, would be followed by a nationwide awareness campaign early next year, and capping the effort would be an international conference in 2005.
