KUALA LUMPUR: The owner of a cellular phone shop was shot twice by a robber at his outlet in Taman Muda Ampang yesterday.

Lim Kim Chong, 43, was shot on his face and arm. However, he is in stable condition at the Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Azmi Hashim said a man walked into the shop and threatened Lim at gunpoint to hand over some mobile phones at 6.10pm.

Instead, Lim took out a samurai sword and chased after the robber for about 20m to a motorcycle where the man's accomplice was waiting.

“Lim slashed the motorcyclist on his back but was then shot by the armed man,'' he said, adding the duo snatched a necklace from Lim and fled on the machine.

ACP Azmi said police believed that the duo was involved in a similar robbery at a cellular phone shop in Taman Kosas Ampang on Monday.

During the 8pm incident, shop assistant Low Kim Fatt, 26, was shot by a gunman.
