ALOR STAR: The implementation of the electronic security system at prisons will tighten security and reduce the number of prison personnel, said Home Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Aseh Che Mat.

“For a manually operated prison with 2,500 inmates, we need about 850 prison personnel but with the new system, we need only 400 staff,” he told newsmen after opening the new Pokok Sena prison, 25km from here, yesterday. Also present was Prisons Department director-general Datuk Mustafa Osman.
