Please release me, shoplifter begs magistrate


KUALA LUMPUR: A housewife repeatedly begged a magistrate here to release her after she admitting to shoplifting, saying that she wanted to return to her hometown to celebrate Chinese New Year with her children. 

Soon Gock Lan @ Soon Geok Lin, 38, who read out a mitigating letter, pleaded with magistrate Rosli Ahmad, saying that her children, aged between two and 15, would be eagerly awaiting her return.
