PUTRAJAYA: The Government is contacting other highway concessionaires to help the 120 toll workers made redundant by the closure of the Jalan Kuching toll plaza yesterday.

Human Resources Minister Datuk Dr Fong Chan Onn said it was trying to arrange interviews for the affected workers with these companies.

“The ministry will also discuss with the former highway operator Kamunting Corp Bhd to know what the workers’ dues are,” he told reporters at his office yesterday.

Dr Fong was commenting on the plight of the staff who complained that the amount of compensation from the company was inadequate.

On the MTUC leadership tussle, Dr Fong said the ministry would like to see the matter resolved internally.

“However, nobody involved in the tussle should resort to pickets and protests which would lead to a stoppage of work,” he added.
