Endon's twin sister dies of cancer


REST IN PEACE:Noraini had gone to Germany fortreatment

PETALING JAYA: Noraini Datuk Mahmood, the twin sister of Datin Seri Endon Mahmood, passed away at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre yesterday. She was 63. 

Noraini died at 10.15am. She had earlier returned home at 7.30pm on Friday night from Germany where she was treated for breast cancer. 

Her remains were brought to her house in Section 16 here and later buried at the Bukit Kiara Muslim cemetery beside the grave of her husband, former police officer Othman Haji Isa at about 4pm.

Noraini, who had 11 brothers and sisters, leaves behind a son Ahmad Fizal Osman and a daughter Faridah. 

Among those who paid their last respects were the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Fauziah Tengku Abdul Rashid, Endon and her husband Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, relatives, government ministers, officials and friends. 

A relative said Noraini had undergone the treatment in Germany for nearly two weeks.
