NOUR Ismail, a cashier at the All-Star Deli & Grocery in Manhattan, New York, says the handful of pennies tossed into the bodega’s tip jar by the end of the day is mostly a nuisance, rather than a welcome reward for good service.
As a tip, pennies are nearly worthless, the 24-year-old said, adding that the offering shows customers’ kindness and sometimes they add up.
