TWENTY-FIVE “Most Outstanding” participants of the Technical Skill Learning (TSL) pilot programme for upper secondary students will receive prizes for their achievements.
The prizes are part of the RM10,000 sponsorship provided by the Knights of Rizal Malaysia Chapter to recognise the exemplary talent of participants in the programme, conducted by Penang STEM in partnership with the Penang State Education Department and the Skills Development Department (JPK).
Upon passing the final assessment, some 260 TSL students from 12 participating schools who underwent the two-year programme in 2025 (Form Four) and 2026 (Form Five) will receive certificates from JPK at a special ceremony at the Penang Skills Development Centre on Sept 26.
The 25 “Most Outstanding” awardees will be selected based on full attendance at all 52 sessions and the periodic assessments conducted by the participating training institutions.
The sponsorship cheque was presented to Penang STEM during a Knights of Rizal Malaysia Chapter gala dinner to mark its second investiture ceremony in Kuala Lumpur on Aug 22, held under the auspices of the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Malaysia.
The Order of the Knights of Rizal is an international civic, patriotic and cultural organisation dedicated to honouring the life, ideals and legacy of Dr José P. Rizal, a national hero of the Philippines.
Founded in 1911, the organisation is dedicated to studying, disseminating and practising the teachings and ideals of Dr Rizal, while promoting patriotism, chivalry and social responsibility.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was conferred the Knight Grand Cross of Rizal by the Knights of Rizal in 1997 in recognition of his contribution towards strengthening friendship and cooperation between Malaysia and the Philippines.
In March 2023, he was honoured with the Rizal Pro Patria Award, one of the highest honours of the order, in recognition of his leadership, contributions to nation-building and efforts to promote international cooperation.
