“New technologies, including social and generative AI, are expanding the landscape of learning and redefining the skills we need for tomorrow. The scientific and technological revolution is accelerating the reconstruction of the global innovation ecosystem, and AI is at the forefront of reshaping talent demands across the world.
Universities, as the core hubs of talent cultivation, must now transform – evolving education models, iterating teaching systems and innovating assessment mechanisms. These shifts are not optional – they are integral to the success of national innovation-driven strategies.”
Hunan University of Technology president Prof Dr Jiang Changbo
“The traditional model of teaching and examination in the accounting profession is leading to an expectation gap between employers and students. Graduates emerging from courses are not meeting employers’ expectations, and the traditional model has not kept pace with what the market actually expects. We need a mindset shift away from traditional models towards a competency-based approach.
A framework of technical accounting competencies, transdisciplinary skills and professional skills – which together form the contemporary accountant – represents the services and skills employers are seeking. As part of this process, we need a model of rigorous, competency-based assessment that fosters validation, demonstrates competency, and builds confidence in the framework being offered.”
