Ungku Omar Polytechnic (PUO) made history on May 31 by collaborating with Samsung Malaysia Electronics (SME) to establish the Samsung Hybrid Classroom and Samsung Education Centre, which enable interactive lectures using the latest technology.

The inauguration was officiated by Higher Education deputy secretary-general (Policy) Datuk Dr Megat Sany Megat Ahmad Supian, at the PUO main campus in Ipoh. Also in attendance were SME Corporate Affairs Department director Datuk Roh Jae Yeol and Customer Satisfaction Department head Teng Kah Wee.Samsung has been a strategic partner of PUO since last year. Through this ongoing collaboration, Samsung has donated equipment for the PUO Asasi Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme students.

By supporting education, Samsung aims to develop a skilled workforce familiar with its technology, potentially leading to future innovations and market opportunities.

During the event, the polytechnic also celebrated its first cohort of 91 Asasi TVET students who completed their studies.

The students were recognised with various excellence awards for their achievements in academics, co-curricular activities, leadership and personal character.

Lauding the students for their achievements, Megat Sany emphasised the ministry’s commitment to maintaining strategic and strong collaborative relationships with industry and the community.

Through such collaborations, students gain the skills and knowledge needed in industry, he said.
