Apply online to defer PTPTN loan repayment

The National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) has assured borrowers that the process of applying to postpone their loan repayment will be smooth and easy.

Under the RM15bil Perlindungan Ekonomi dan Rakyat Malaysia (Permai) assistance package, PTPTN borrowers affected by the flood have been allowed to defer repaying their study loans.

The deferral will be given for a period of three months starting in the same month the approval is given, and an additional two months between January and May 2021.

PTPTN chairman Wan Saiful Wan Jan requested that PTPTN officers ensure the process of applying for this postponement is conducted effectively and easily for the people.

“We do not want excessive bureaucracy in implementing this assistance programme, ” he said in a statement by the corporation on Wednesday.

PTPTN chief executive Ahmad Dasuki Abdul Majid said these borrowers can also use the online facilities so that they do not have to go to the branches to apply for the deferrals.

Those who want to apply can do so until March 31 via PTPTN’s official portal at

No supporting documents are needed when making the applications.

Borrowers will be notified via email within three working days of the application submissions date.

They are reminded to update their contact information to ensure they receive details on their applications.

For more information and queries, borrowers can contact PTPTN’s Careline at 03-2193 3000. The Careline is operational from Monday to Friday (9am to 5pm).

They can also visit its official portal and go to the “Frequently Asked Questions” section.
