Prokerja aims to increase the mobility of the nation’s skilled local workforce by optimising youth participation through a more targeted and systematic job matching and placement approach.
MARii chief executive officer Datuk Madani Sahari said jobseekers will be able to gain work opportunities through the Industry-Led Professional Certificate (IPC) programme by registering online on Prokerja.
IPC, he added, is a capacity-building module organised by MARii and designed by industry experts.
The programme began in 2012 and to date, over 33,000 youths have been trained under it.
An objective of the programme is to produce a local workforce that is technologically skilled and able to keep up with advancements in manufacturing.
“Other than making it easy for those who are eligible to apply for the programme, Prokerja’s positive impact includes the production of highly capable workers through the learning of specific modules and industrial training. For six months, trainees are exposed to general industrial knowledge, skills and work culture.
“This programme addresses the need for skilled and technologically trained local workers in the highly demanding and constantly evolving automotive and manufacturing sectors,” Madani said.
No fees will be imposed during the duration of the programme. Accommodation, transportation, food and drink costs are covered for all trainees. Takaful insurance will also be provided.
Trainees will receive the IPC after completing the first month of classes and will be awarded the Industry-Led Professional Certificate – Advanced Apprenticeship Programme (IPC-AAP) after completing five months of practical training. Both are industry-recognised certificates accredited by MARii.
This programme also allow the trainees to be eligible for the Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia (SKM) under the purview of the Department of Skills Development (JPK) through the Pengiktirafan Pencapaian Terdahulu certification.
“On behalf of MARii, I hope that the youth of Malaysia will make full use of Prokerja to apply for the programme that will in time benefit the shaping of their future.
“Our records have shown that past graduates of the programme have been successfully placed in the industry as production operators earning monthly salaries ranging from RM1,500 to RM2,000,” Madani added.
In order to qualify for the programme, candidates have to be healthy, aged between 18 to 30 years old and hold a SPM/SKM/Diploma from any local institution or its equivalent.
