UNIVERSITI Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) recently made it into the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) as the first public university to be ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System) certified for the scope of management training related to scuba diving license courses; foundation, diplomas, bachelor’s and postgraduate degree education services; research management; and university support processes.
“This recognition demonstrates our readiness to be a national scuba diving centre, ” the varsity said in a statement.
During the MBOR recognition certificate submission ceremony, UMT vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Nor Aieni Mokhtar said the implementation of the UMT Management System, which supports the UMT Strategic Plan 2018-2022, is guided by ISO standards and is one of the key initiatives to ensure that UMT practices quality management.
“ISO is a standard that outlines the basic foundations for creating and implementing an effective and efficient management system to produce outputs or services that meet the needs and expectations of customers, ” she said during the ceremony held on July 26.
